SDG Impact Data

inrate sdg imapct rating

As a part of our ESG Data Solutions, Inrate works with SDG Impact data. SDG Impact data provide information on how a company or an investment portfolio contributes positively or negatively to each individual Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the United Nations. Core to the analysis are the positive or negative contributions of a company’s products and services. Additionally, the analysis includes a company’s overall ESG performance, including management and operations (CSR), as well as controversies. The assessment goes from very positive to very negative contributions (scale from A to D).

SDG Impact Data Based on Economic Activities

The extent to which a company’s products and services contribute to the individual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their targets is evaluated based on its products and services, as well as its management and operations (CSR) and significant business practices (controversies). The assessment is based on the following elements:

Business Activity

Inrate attributes a value to each company’s business activities, which indicates how the represented products and services contribute to each SDG.

]

Substitution Effect

To assess positive and negative contributions to SDGs, we analyze if a business activity sustainably satisfies basic societal needs such as housing or energy. Products and services that serve the same need can theoretically be substituted with each other.

Entire Value Chains

Impacts are measured along the entire value chains of products and services.

V

CSR Activities

The analysis considers a company’s CSR activities and controversies by integrating the overall impact rating of a company into the assessment.

Revenue shares

Inrate provides information on the companies’ revenues linked to the individual SDGs.
