Inrate provides innovative research for Unigestion - Ethos Environmental Sustainability LP
10/13/2011
New fund investing in private equity funds providing capital to companies in the most promising areas of renewable energy successfully launched with Inrate’s help.
Inrate is pleased to announce that it has collaborated in the successful launch of the Unigestion-Ethos Environmental Sustainability LP which closed its first subscription period on 30th June 2011 with 60.5m euros. This new “fund-of-funds” invests in up to 15 private equity funds that are active in the most promising environmental sustainability subsectors (including energy efficiency, alternative energy production, water treatment and pollution control). Inrate provides research to the new fund and is another example of how Inrate has launched innovative services over its 20 year history.
ESG research into private equity companies in this specialized area is quite unique and hard to find. Working with the original concept and mandate designed by Ethos, Inrate began preparing its approach in 2009 and is now able to offer a special methodology tailored by Ethos to suit non-listed companies. This methodology incorporates not just assessments of the underlying technology these younger companies are involved in but also ESG elements that make non-listed companies different from their quoted peers. Unigestion recognized the need for research not only on the ESG behavior of the General Partners (private equity fund managers) but also on their portfolio companies. Unigestion was able to turn to Ethos, a Strategic Committee and Inrate for assistance with the aim of providing transparency on the multi-layered ESG process to its investors.
Inrate is pleased to be associated with two such prestigious organisations such as Unigestion and Ethos. Unigestion focuses exclusively on the management of highly active strategies, particularly private equity, while seeking superior risk-adjusted returns. Ethos is one of Europe’s leaders in active ownership and engagement as well as being one of the UN PRI’s most prominent signatories.
